Your favourite Christmas specials
The Office (US) has a few good ones.

Charlie Brown as well; can't knock Vince Guaraldi.

Re: Your favourite Christmas specials
watched the Snowman for the first time since i was a kid tonight. Fucking memories there. Immediately afterwards was this thing called "Snowman and the snowdog" which was a fucking abortion of a modern attempt at a sequel. Terrible.

All the BBC Morecambe and Wise specials (from 71 - 77) were brilliant and make me realize how lucky I was to have seen them as they were broadcast

Also the WHTTLL special from 1974 was excellent

Not everyone's cup of tea but the Lead Balloon Christmas special from 2008 is a decent watch IMO

Morecambe & Wise

As said, brilliant comedians and absolutely integral to Christmas as a kid

Tell you what though, was only saying the other day how retrospectively strange it was that they finished there show in pyjamas in a double bed in a non bender way - stranger still, no one seemed to think so at the time

crassus, that was covered in the documentary last night (featured lengthy contributions from Eric's two kids). they both questioned the bed scenes when reading the scripts, writer Eddie Braeburn telling them "If its good enough for Laurel & Hardy, its good enough for you two" :.)

Bottom - Holy , it's on Gold tonight at 12:30. The whole episode is brilliantly written and still has me in stitches - Gold, Frankenstein and Grrr, Vodka Margarine etc.

Re: Your favourite Christmas specials
OFAH gold watch trilogy was amazing and in later life seeing morecombe and wise re-runs, I mean they make me laugh every time I see them.

Was obviously too young to appreciate them at the time, but only the special comics make you still laugh heartily years later.

Am sure the two Ronnie's most have had some belters, as rarely has anyone delivered perfection like Ronnie barker.

If I just get a glimpse of Morecambe & Wise on Christmas day I know I will have smiled and felt warmth at least once.

Re: Your favourite Christmas specials
Morecambe and Wise every time for me along with any OFAH really.

Can't believe there are actually people out there who don't think Morecambe and Wise were funny?! Was having a heated discussion with one such anti fan last night and gave up in the end. I mean how can anyone not find The Previn Sketch, The Bassey Sketch, The Breakfast Sketch, - "He's not going to sell much ice cream going at that speed, is he" and hundreds of other classic M&W moments not funny?!?!?
